St Kilda Virtual Museum

The St Kilda virtual museum has been created as a source of St Kilda history. The building is split in two floor with various sections which contains information on history of St Kilda; animals, fowling and birds on St Kilda. The top floor houses information and models of houses in St Kilda. The virtual museum offers archaeologists and visitors the chance to discover a variety of information about Hirta; information is available in visual, text and audio forms. Visitors have the chance to visit the reconstructed island from the museum through teleport portals. Knowledge gained from the visit can be tested by attempting the quiz in various sections in the museum. Also, at the entrance is a tour guide who gives all visitors a guide to the museum.

Stories Cinema

There are two identical buildings which features eight (8) famous stories of life on St Kilda. The Stories cinema features videos re-enacted by pupils of LochMaddy Primary School. These videos have been uploaded and visitors may watch and enjoy the stories/superstitions of people on the island. Visitors also have a chance to teleport to “St Kilda 1” an island which shows a visual reconstruction of stories on St Kilda, it includes models, text and audio.

Religion and Education Theatre

This building houses information on religion and education in St Kilda as well as songs which were famous on the island. In this building, visitors may gain information about religion and education, ministers in St Kilda through photos, models of the church and school, videos of the reconstructed island and a chance to teleport to the site to visit these places. The songs are available on a screen and visitors may listen to them while touring the site and other attractions in the building. This building is very informative and visitors’ have a chance to take a quiz after their visit to test their knowledge of St Kilda from their experience.
