On the 58° latitude? - share the world in 360°

Normal photos show a single viewpoint of the world we live; photospheres capture 360° panoramas. In addition, they welcome others to freely look up, down, and all around to explore the entire scene. The photographic image has been used to document places we visit, bring stories to life and share experiences with others. The development of photosphere technology provides a much richer photo experience.

Photospheres can be created using an app on many android and iOS devices. They can be embedded in Google Maps and websites, shared on social media, viewed in an exhibit and stored online. This technology has been used by journalists, bloggers and photographers to share stories and experiences in a more immersive, engaging way.  It can also be enjoyed by anyone who has a compatible device and wants to participate in their own photosphere journey.

Timespan has partnered up with St Andrews University to develop a ‘DigiTourist Toolkit’ to enable smart digital tourism and connect people and places without geographical restrictions. It will allow the six Latitude 58 communities to share their heritage digitally and offers a real-time opportunity to experience a place far away from home. Timespan invites you to try our North 58° photosphere experience and hope it might inspire you to make some of your own. If you would like to follow the project or assist us with our research and development please add your name to our mailing list.
