The museum researches, exhibits as a whole and promotes the monuments of traditional life, as well as educates and informs the society about the cultural heritage, work and daily life traditions and aesthetics of folks who have lived in the territory of Latvia.
At the museum you can:

- have a good time and meaningful day with your children, family, relatives, friends and contemporaries;
- observe and try out the old craft and taste the traditional food;

Zemnieki, braucot no tirgus, krogā iegriezās pārnakšņot, ieturēties, atpūtināt zirgus.
Senāk Priedes krogs Rīgas–Skaistkalnes ceļa malā sagaidīja un deva pajumti dažādiem ļaudīm: latviešu un lietuviešu zemniekiem, poļu un ebreju tirgotājiem, vācu mācītājiem un muižniekiem.
Krogā ir amatnieku veikals un restorāns. Stadulā aplūkojami seni braucamrīki.

                  <text>Photographs, description texts, and results of surveys and interviews with museum professionals and visitors obtained at the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum in Latvia. This virtual exhibition is provided in English and Latvian.
The decision about the establishment of Open-Air Museum was accepted in 1924, but its first exhibition - Vidzeme Fisherman's Homestead – was open to public in 1932. Today 118 folk architecture objects are exhibited in the territory of 87ha on the Coast of Jugla Lake in Rīga.
The museum collects documents and preserves the objects of folk building monuments of Latvian historical and ethnographical regions, along with evidence of the way of life and culture of the rural population, characteristic to the period from the 17th century until 30-ies of the 20th century.
The museum researches, exhibits as a whole and promotes the monuments of traditional life, as well as educates and informs the society about the cultural heritage, work and daily life traditions and aesthetics of folks who have lived in the territory of Latvia.
At the museum you can:
- find out and learn about the history and development of crafts, technologies and traditions;
- experience the joy of dancing, singing, playing music and games;
- have a good time and meaningful day with your children, family, relatives, friends and contemporaries;
- observe and try out the old craft and taste the traditional food;
relax and enjoy being in nature;
- visit the applied folk art fair during the first weekend of June.

At the museum the inn hosts a craft shop and restaurant. Ancient means of transportation may be viewed in the stable.
Roadside Inn’s place of origin is Vecumnieki; and it was built in 1841. Re-erected in the museum in 1938.

Tikai muižām bija krogu ierīkošanas tiesības, tos būvēja pie dzirnavām, baznīcām, lielceļu krustojumos – vietās, kur apgrozījās vairāk ļaužu. Zemnieki, braucot no tirgus, krogā iegriezās pārnakšņot, ieturēties, atpūtināt zirgus.
Senāk Priedes krogs Rīgas–Skaistkalnes ceļa malā sagaidīja un deva pajumti dažādiem ļaudīm: latviešu un lietuviešu zemniekiem, poļu un ebreju tirgotājiem, vācu mācītājiem un muižniekiem.
Krogā ir amatnieku veikals un restorāns. Stadulā aplūkojami seni braucamrīki.
Krogs bija atvests no bijušas Bauskas apriņķa, Vecumnieku pagasta; uzcelts 1841. gadā. Muzejā uzstādīts 1938. gadā.</text>

                <text>During the late Middle Ages there were gateways across all the main roads into St Andrews. These marked the entries to the city and formed a public reminder of the transition from the countryside to the urban area of St Andrews (which, like other Scottish towns, had its own regulations and privileges). Apart from entries into the cathedral grounds, the West Port is the only one of the St Andrews gateways to survive. The current archway was built in 1589, replacing an earlier (and probably simpler) structure. It was modelled on the Nether Bow - one of the sixteenth-century gateways to Edinburgh. The redesigned West Port was built to a high standard with finely carved stonework. However, the project ran significantly over budget, and eventually cost almost twice as much as had originally been anticipated.
