Title A name given to the resource Rosemarkie Parish Church Subject The topic of the resource The Rosemarkie Stone is believed to have been part of the flooring in Rosemarkie Church, There is a reference to the stone being lifted in 1733, off the floor, and at this time it was damaged. In 1850 the stone was erected outside the church in-cased within a metal frame. In 1980 Rosemarkie Stone was brought to Groam House Museum for safe keeping. Title A name given to the resource Rosemarkie Stone Description An account of the resource Rosemarkie was the site of an early Christian centre in the 8th and 9th centuries AD. Today, you can examine the surviving fragments of Pictish sculpture gathered together in our museum display. The centrepiece of the permanent exhibition is a magnificent Class 2 cross-slab, covered with elaborate and intricate designs reminiscent of Pictish metalwork.
